Beautiful...but Truly Meditative...This is Sax only...
Joe Lovano gives a sax variation on a theme of meditation. His beautiful tone is haunting but this is music with no accompaniment...not even brushes on a snare. The gongs add a fundamental note of personal centering to this listening session. I would not want to hear this in concert--it's very monochromatic. But, Lovano is a master, and has many recordings that illustrate many flavors, and it's a treat to hear him talk about his music on this DVD. This is a great soundtrack to set an introspective ambience...so get in a cross legged position, or sit back, feet up, glass of merlot nearby and relax...
